Create your own reality!! DIY Vision Board

Do you have some big goals you’re determined to achieve in life? Then you NEED a vision board!

I have achieved some of my biggest goals much earlier than I ever thought possible (like buying my dream car at 23 & starting my own business) and I give a lot of credit to my vision board practice for it.

In my opinion, looking at physical representations of your goals every single day is one of the most powerful reminders you can have of the things you want to achieve in life. Your vision board could represent a tangible dream of owning a particular home or car (both of these are sitting on my vision board), it could be place you’re dying to travel to... or it could be the dream partner you’re looking for in life! If you’ve got some big career or personal development goals, your vision board may also reflect that too!

If you’re still wondering how on earth a single picture of say, my dream car could actually manifest into the real thing, then GF I’m about to tell you!

There are a few things:

Firstly, by looking at the photo of my dream car every single day, it reminded me to be smarter with my spending habits. So whenever I would be looking into purchasing something - no matter how big or small, I made sure that 1. I really needed it, and 2. It would support the goal of buying my dream car. With this constant reminder, I was able to save enough money to buy my car a lot sooner than I thought!

Secondly, by putting this desire/goal on your board you are telling the ‘universe’ (don’t roll your eyes just yet!) what you want and therefore you are subconsciously on track to manifesting your goals!

So why go to the trouble of creating a DIY vision board? I mean sure, you could create your vision boards on Pinterest, but it takes all the fun and creativity out of building a board that truly inspires you! Plus, a tangible board is great because you can set it up in your office or bedroom and always get your daily vision reminder.

So what’s the point of this post? I hear you asking! Well GF’s, you guys always ask me how to go about creating a vision board from scratch, so I thought I would dedicate a whole blog post to creating your very own DIY vision board so you can manifest your dream life, just like me!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • A wire memo board, cork board or thick cardboard memo board

  • Cute pins/thumbtacks, bulldog clips or tape

  • Printed photos and magazine/ book clippings that you wish to pin to your vision board!

  • Any other decorative embellishments ie. ribbons, quotes, design paper, powerful words

HOW TO MAKE IT:

1. WRITE DOWN YOUR GOALS SURROUNDING THE FOLLOWING THREE CATEGORIES; MONETARY GOALS, PERSONAL DESIRES/DEVELOPMENT & ACCOMPLISHMENTS.

  • Monetary goals: think materialistic things that you want (car, house, holiday etc!)

  • Personal desires/development: think how you want to level up. Do you want to be able to run 5km without stopping? do you want to practice more self love

  • Accomplishments: Do you want that promotion? Do you want to start and have a successful business? Do you want a book deal.

Just remember WHATEVER it is, no matter how crazy or daunting it may seem, write it down! It doesn’t matter if you have no idea how to get there just yet, as long as you want it bad enough, you believe you will get it, you start makingaligned actions, it will find its way to you.

2. ONCE YOU HAVE YOUR GOALS WRITTEN DOWN, YOU CAN START TO COLLATE A SELECTION OF WORDS AND IMAGES THAT ENVISION YOUR GOALS. PRINT ONCE SELECTED!

  • I like to either use magazines or pinterest for my images! I have a moodboard on Pinterest purely dedicated to my vision board, so whenever I’m feeling inspired or make new goals - I add an image to my pinterest board and then print it off!

3. SPACE YOUR IMAGES OUT EVENLY ACROSS YOUR MOOD BOARD SURFACE! ONCE SECURED TO YOUR MOOD BOARD (BY PINS OR CLIPS) START BY ADDING SOME WORDS OR PHRASES TO EXPLAIN AND ENHANCE YOUR VISUAL REPRESENTATIONS.

  • I find it really helpful to use words to accompany my visual representations on my vision board. These can be short descriptions, lists, explanations or even singular words do well! My tip is to keep it simple but make it powerful!

4. REMIND YOURSELF OF YOUR GOALS EVERY DAY

  • I have an alarm set on my phone for every single morning, that reminds me to look at my vision board and spend at least two minutes actively visualising those goals. This is a great trick if you’re forgetful and struggle to make positive rituals into daily habits!

HERE IS THE IMPORTANT BIT

The trick with a vision board is to look and believe you already have the goals/dreams on your board. This may feel weird and unnatural at the start but it is not enough to just want the things on your board. By believing you are putting out into the universe that you a ready and know exactly what you want. Also I personally do not put a time limit on my vision board, I like to put it out there and let the universe do it’ thing!

So there you have it! If you’re interested in creating your own vision board from scratch, but you’re not sure where to start… then this is the ultimate beginners guide for you.
