Hey my loves,
Does setting goals stress you out sometimes? Or maybe it's a month where you just want to do a little less and not pressure yourself to achieve all of these crazy things?
It is so easy to feel overwhelmed by the amount of tasks, responsibilities and goals we set for ourselves. Sometimes, we just end up setting goals for the sake of it and just do things without a clear sense of direction or purpose.
Monthly intentions allow you to have space so that you can regain focus, motivation and feel fulfilled.
What are monthly intentions?
Setting monthly intentions involves identifying specific goals or areas of focus for the month. Intentions are less about the outcome and more about the process and mindset behind achieving them. Think of intentions as your measuring stick that you can use to align your actions and decisions with your values and long term goals.
What are the benefits?
There are plenty of benefits to setting monthly intentions but here are a few:
- Clarity and Focus: Setting intentions helps you gain clarity on what you truly want to achieve in the month ahead. By defining your priorities, you can focus your time, energy, and resources on what matters most.
- Motivation and Accountability: Intentions provide a sense of purpose and motivation, acting as a driving force to keep you committed and dedicated to your goals. They also help you stay accountable by tracking your progress and adjusting your approach as needed.
- Mindfulness: Setting intentions encourages a more mindful approach to life. It allows you to reflect on where you currently are and connect with yourself on a deeper level/m
By aligning your actions with your intentions, you will have more balance and start feeling more fulfilled.
How do you set monthly intentions?
There are a few ways you can do this but here are my top tips:
- Reflection: Begin by taking some time to reflect on the past month. Consider your achievements, challenges, and areas for growth. Ask yourself what you want to carry forward and what you want to let go of.
- Identify Areas of Focus: Based on your reflection, identify the key areas you want to focus on in the coming month. These could be personal, professional, or wellness-related. Be specific and choose a few areas that are realistic and meaningful to you.
- Centre it around emotions: I personally love to centre my intentions around my emotions and how I want to feel. For example your monthly intentions may be; no rushed energy, creative & in-flow. Those are all things that you want to feel and if an action doesn’t align with those feelings - then you know it’s not something you should worry about doing that month.
Journaling Prompts
Here are some journaling prompts that can help you to reflect and set clear intentions for the month ahead.
Ask yourself:
- Where do I want to focus my time and energy?
- Where do I need more consistency?
- What changes or improvements do I need to make?
- What habits/practices are working well?
- What do I need more of?
- What do I need less of?
- What am I committed to?
Setting monthly intentions is a powerful practice that can bring clarity, focus and help you to feel more fulfilled. By aligning your actions with your values and aspirations, you can still make a lot of progress towards achieving your goals while maintaining a sense of balance and well-being.
