Hey Girlfriend
Do you ever struggle to get to sleep because you have such a busy mind? 💤
You guys know your girl always has lots going on at once, so switching my mind off at night often proves difficult.
But, I think i’ve finally cracked the code when it comes to switching off, winding down and getting a good night's sleep.
I know this may sound weird, but switching off starts for me in the morning.
And I don’t mean that in the sense that I start to switch off in the morning, but I start implementing practices in the morning that will help my body and mind switch off at night.
Which is why each morning I do my best to move my body.
I honestly notice such a big difference when I move my body during the day and when I don’t.
If I haven’t used a big chunk of energy in the day, then I feel restless and unsettled at night. So that’s my first tip, especially if you work at a desk all day like me, some form of exercise makes the world of difference, even if it’s just a beach walk!
I also find it super helpful to make a to-do list at the start of my day. This helps to keep the mind clear and organised so when I wind down come the end of the day, I’m not worried that I have forgotten anything or all of a sudden having “Oh crap” moments at 8pm.
The next thing I do to help me switch off is have a ‘wind down’ routine!
You guys have probably seen on my Instagram, heard on my pod or read on my blogs that I love a routine, and I have been implementing a nighttime routine for quite some time now. My nighttime routine starts from the moment I stop work and have a ‘switch off’ activity, like walking the dogs on the beach.
Tim & I usually cook dinner around 7pm and then have some netflix and chill time (actually netflix and chill) and then I have my moon mylk at around 8pm, this calms my body and my mind and I feel the relaxation wash over me.
Moon mylk has been one of the biggest game changers for me when it comes to my nighttime routine and switching off.
Moon mylk is a functional blend of unique herbs, vitamins and minerals designed to relax your mind & body, and have a calming effect on your nervous system. This blend is perfect if you’re feeling the tension in the afternoons, or if you’re winding down before bed, which is why I’ve implemented it into my nightly rituals and it has honestly changed my life (I don’t mean to be dramatic). Use code GEORGIE for 10% off!
Another thing I have found to be sooo helpful is meditation. You guys know meditation is a practise I use for so many different things & switching off is one of them. If I am struggling to switch off, then I will pop on a nightime meditation to help calm my mind.
I always try and limit my screen time after 8pm or if I am on a screen then I use my blue-light blocking glasses to protect my eyes right before bed.
These are my favourite ways to switch off & I don’t always get it right, but I find it so helpful when it comes to calming my mind and body.
Love always
G xx
